Cheyenne Wells is 2-8 against Kit Carson since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Cheyenne Wells Tigers face off against the Kit Carson Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Cheyenne Wells came up short against Hi-Plains and fell 46-35. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 10-5 in the first quarter.

Cheyenne Wells' defeat came about despite a quality game from Paige Ryser, who posted nine points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Ryser is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Scheimer, who put up five points.
Even though they lost, Cheyenne Wells smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Kit Carson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 64-40 to Evangel Christian Academy.
Despite the defeat, Kit Carson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avery Johnson went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Shay Rady, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.
Kit Carson's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Cheyenne Wells, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cheyenne Wells has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 29.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Kit Carson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Cheyenne Wells was able to grind out a solid win over Kit Carson in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 43-33. Will Cheyenne Wells repeat their success, or does Kit Carson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
