Basketball Recap: Islands Takes a Loss

Islands saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the May River Sharks . While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 443rd in Georgia, while the Sharks are ranked 23rd in South Carolina).

Islands dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for May River, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Islands will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Islands is facing Jenkins at the right time seeing as Jenkins is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for May River, they will square off against Benedictine at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
