Basketball Recap: Kennedy Takes a Loss

Kennedy lost against Taft back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Kennedy Thunderbirds took a 45-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Taft Wildcats.

When it comes to explaining why Kennedy lost, don't look at Zikeem Dozer. Despite the final result, he posted 14 points. The dominant performance also gave Dozer a new career-high in rebounds (four).

Ernie Laulu was his usual excellent self, going 5 of 9 on his way to 17 points and six boards for Taft. The matchup was Laulu's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nick Andrade, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Kennedy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Taft, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-9.

Kennedy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-30 victory against Delano on the 23rd. Taft has also already played their next match, a 43-35 win against Shafter on the 24th.
