Baseball Recap: Laporte Takes a Loss

Laporte suffered their closest loss since May 20, 2025 on Friday. They fell just short of the Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds by a score of 4-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 7-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Laporte saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Atticus Hartman, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Laporte and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Mahnomen/Waubun, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laporte will welcome Pine River-Backus at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mahnomen/Waubun, they will host Badger/Greenbush-Middle River at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
