Basketball Recap: Oryan Woolstan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heritage over Cocoa Beach

Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 79-76 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cocoa Beach Minutemen. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (58), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Heritage lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was ORyan Woolstan, who posted 19 points. Those 19 points gave him a new career-high. Malik Brown was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Cocoa Beach had a senior duo take command as Lukas Stevens went 5 for 12 en route to 18 points and seven assists and Garrett Ronsisvalle went 6 of 10 to rack up 15 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Ronsisvalle also set a new season-high mark in shooting accuracy with 60%. Another player making a difference was Max Louis, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Cocoa Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-14 record this season.

Heritage has already played their next contest, an 84-72 defeat against Bayside on the 31st. As for Cocoa Beach, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-40 win against Crooms Academy on the 5th.
