Volleyball Recap: Plano East Comes Up Short

If Plano East was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Princeton on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the Georgetown Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 25-18 in the first set.

Plano East started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-19, 25-18.

Georgetown's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Pitkethley, who had 19 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Pitkethley has posted over her last 19 games. Sailor Rulmyr also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Plano East's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Georgetown, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-7.

Looking ahead, Plano East will head out to square off against Cedar Park at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Georgetown, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Dawson on the 28th.
