Soccer Game Preview: Holmes vs. First Flight

Holmes is 0-10 against First Flight since April of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Aces will host the Nighthawks at 5:00 p.m. Holmes has given up an average of 2.8 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Holmes came up short against Currituck County on Wednesday, falling 8-2.

Meanwhile, First Flight entered their tilt with Hertford County on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bears a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for First Flight, who have now won nine matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

First Flight pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those seven games. As for Holmes, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Holmes suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to First Flight when the teams last played back in April of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Aces were down 4-1.
