Baseball Game Preview: King Philip Regional Warriors vs. Attleboro Bombardiers

The King Philip Regional Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Attleboro Bombardiers at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. King Philip Regional's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Attleboro's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

King Philip Regional fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Taunton on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2.

Cam Hasenfus was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed eight innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off 12 hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, King Philip Regional saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vinny Menendez, who went 2-for-4 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Menendez has hit this season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Attleboro ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Sharon 4-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bombardiers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

King Philip Regional's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Attleboro, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

King Philip Regional took their victory against Attleboro in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
