Baseball Game Preview: Lake Braddock Bruins vs. Edison Eagles

The Lake Braddock Bruins will challenge the Edison Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lake Braddock had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt South County on Thursday. The Bruins were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Stallions. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now won three in a row.

Lake Braddock got a great performance from Beau Padgett as he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Padgett has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Henry Mahns and Ryan Harding did most of the damage at the plate: Mahns scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Harding scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Prentiss, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Edison got themselves on the board against Annandale on Thursday, but Annandale never followed suit. They blew past the Atoms 16-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Edison has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Braddock, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
