Basketball Recap: Kobe Edgerton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crossroads Christian over South Granville

Crossroads Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 53-45 to the South Granville Vikings.

Crossroads Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kobe Edgerton, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 18 points. Edgerton's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Smith, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Mason Brown was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 11 boards for South Granville. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in points. Traevon Hayes was another key player, putting up eight points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.

Crossroads Christian's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for South Granville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Crossroads Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-56 win against Wake Forest on the 30th. As for South Granville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 52-49 victory against C.B. Aycock on the 30th.
