Sean Brouillard and Chris Campbell did some serious damage despite the final result: Brouillard got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Campbell got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Brouillard has become a key player for Westlake: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Jung, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
As for Normandy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.
On Normandy's side, Gabe Montgomery looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Montgomery posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three matchups.
At the plate, Peyton Wolf and Logan Saban did most of the damage at the plate: Wolf went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Saban went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Wolf has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jensen Vargo, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Westlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Normandy, they will face off against North Olmsted at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
