Basketball Recap: Camron Lempke's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chase County over Bridgeport

After flying high against Dundy County-Stratton last Tuesday, Chase County came back down to earth. The Chase County Longhorns fell just short of the Bridgeport Bulldogs by a score of 44-42 on Friday. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Camron Lempke, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Lempke has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Terryberry, who posted 11 points.

Bridgeport got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Levick out in front who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Gage Nein, who had ten points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Chase County's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Bridgeport, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Chase County and Kimball will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Kimball's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Bridgeport, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Alliance at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bridgeport is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
