While Mountain Island Charter didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The Raptors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gryphons, too.

Mountain Island Charter was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 21-25, 25-13, 25-17.

The win made it two in a row for Mountain Island Charter and bumps their season record up to 7-4. As for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mountain Island Charter will challenge rival NCSSM: Morganton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Queen's Grant at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
