Basketball Game Preview: Richland Colts vs. Northern Cass Jaguars

The Richland Colts will venture away from home to take on the Northern Cass Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Richland has struggled recently with 12 defeats in a row, while Northern Cass will arrive with five straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Richland took a blow against Hankinson, falling 74-35. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Pirates are ranked 29th).

Meanwhile, Northern Cass won against Drayton/Valley-Edinburg on Friday with 65 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Northern Cass blew past Hatton/Northwood, posting a 65-38 win. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 20 points or more this season.

Richland's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Northern Cass, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Richland came up short against Northern Cass in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 57-50. Can Richland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
