Southern Guilford is a perfect 5-0 against Asheboro since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Storm will host the Blue Comets at 7:30 p.m. Southern Guilford is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

On Friday, Southern Guilford came up short against Southeast Guilford and fell 42-30. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Falcons are ranked 126th).

Southern Guilford might have lost, but man, Robert Scott was a machine: he rushed for 137 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries, and also caught one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Asheboro didn't have quite enough to beat Northeast Guilford on Friday and fell 38-35. While the Blue Comets had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Rams 14-3.

Southern Guilford will have to contain Dallas Brinton as he made an impact in Asheboro's last game. He rushed for 119 yards and two scores, and also threw for 126 yards and one TD on only 12 passes. Brinton also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making three total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Asheboro's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Southern Guilford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Southern Guilford has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Asheboro struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 224.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything came up roses for Southern Guilford against Asheboro when the teams last played back in March of 2021, as the squad secured a 40-0 victory. Do the Storm have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
