Baseball Recap: Tatum Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

Tatum proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by nine) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the West Rusk Raiders, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Raiders since April 14, 2023.

Logen Tovar tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Cooper Whiteus was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Grant Adcock, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Tatum kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Tatum is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for West Rusk and nudges their season record down to 6-10-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tatum will face off against rival Troup at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Tatum 2.8, Troup 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, West Rusk is set to take on their familiar foe White Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
