Baseball Game Preview: Pittsfield Generals vs. West Springfield Terriers

The Pittsfield Generals will head out on the road to take on the West Springfield Terriers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pittsfield's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.

On Thursday, Pittsfield made easy work of Northampton and carried off a 14-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday West Springfield's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Longmeadow. The three-run effort marked the Terriers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Pittsfield's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for West Springfield, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Pittsfield was able to grind out a solid victory over West Springfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
