Basketball Recap: Brock Helmuth's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Arthur-Okaw Christian over Arcola

Arthur-Okaw Christian lost against Arcola back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Arthur-Okaw Christian Conquering Riders took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arcola Purple Riders.

Several Conquering Riders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brock Helmuth, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points. Helmuth continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kyson Pflum, who went 6 of 14 to rack up 17 points and five rebounds.

Arthur-Okaw Christian's loss dropped their record down to 21-9. As for Arcola, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arthur-Okaw Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Greenview at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arcola, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll face off against Unity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Unity Christian has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 204 points over their last three games.
