Softball Game Preview: Interboro Buccaneers vs. Northwestern Lehigh Tigers

Interboro is on a ten-game streak of home wins, while Northwestern Lehigh is on an eight-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Buccaneers will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Interboro is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Frankford a 19-0 shutout.

Jules Bergen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Summer Burrell was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Harrity, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

Interboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .960. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Northwestern Lehigh duked it out with Athens on Monday. The Tigers blew past the Wildcats 11-0. Northwestern Lehigh's win was all the more impressive since the Wildcats were averaging only 1.83 runs allowed on the season.

Northwestern Lehigh's victory bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Interboro, their win bumped their record up to 21-2.
