Baseball Recap: Kennedy Memorial's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Kennedy Memorial had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 11-9 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the South Amboy Governors by a score of 4-1. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Governors back in April, they had to take a 7-3 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Kevin Portoreal, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

As for South Amboy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On South Amboy's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vaughn Pelkey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Pelkey has snagged this season.

Kennedy Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against North Plainfield on the 10th. As for South Amboy, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-0 defeat against Metuchen on the 10th.
