Preview: Heard County Braves vs. Lamar County Trojans

Heard County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Lamar County Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Heard County didn't have too much trouble with Temple at home as they won 43-29.

Ethan Tisdale was on fire: he rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 79 yards and two touchdowns. Tisdale hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Antonio Heath was another major influence, as he rushed for 107 yards and ran in a TD.

Meanwhile, Lamar County had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They didn't even let Crawford County onto the board and left with a 43-0 victory. Considering Lamar County has won five matchups by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lamar County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zyquavius Hughley out in front who rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Hughley was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Kenyae Barnes also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Heard County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Lamar County, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.

Heard County was taken down by Lamar County 42-0 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Heard County, Cj Allen (who rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
