Basketball Recap: Ainsley Jacobson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Brookwood over Thomasville

If Brookwood was feeling good fresh off their 51-17 takedown of Valwood last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Brookwood Warriors fell to the Thomasville Bulldogs 42-36. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-38 on January 11th.

Brookwood lost on Monday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ainsley Jacobson, who posted eight points and ten boards. Jacobson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. Carriyona Williams was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Brookwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Leading Thomasville to victory were Jayla Brooks and Ma'Khia Banks. Brooks scored 27 points and five steals, while Banks almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Brooks a new career-high in points.

Brookwood's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Thomasville, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Brookwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-27 win against Chiles on the 28th. As for Thomasville, they will face off against Worth County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Worth County will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Thomasville surely won't give up without a fight.
