Saugus waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the La Mirada Matadores.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Saugus took both sets by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-11.

Valerie Mejia paced Saugus' offense, picking up seven kills. Mejia got some help from Chasiah Omoregie and her 11 assists. Omoregie was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Saugus' victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for La Mirada, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Saugus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Los Altos on the 5th. As for La Mirada, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Pasadena on the 5th.
