Baseball Recap: Colleton Prep Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Andrew Jackson Academy last Saturday, Colleton Prep Academy came back down to earth. The Colleton Prep Academy War Hawks fell 6-2 to the Dorchester Academy Raiders on Monday. If the War Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 8-4 to the Raiders when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bryce Kinard put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Kinard was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.

Kinard wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cale Owens, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Coldin Lyle was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Even though they lost, Colleton Prep Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Colleton Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Dorchester Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colleton Prep Academy will host Holly Hill Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dorchester Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against First Baptist School at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. First Baptist School will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Dorchester Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
