Softball Game Preview: Lake Forest Spartans vs. Delmarva Christian Royals

The Lake Forest Spartans will head out to square off against the Delmarva Christian Royals at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Forest is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Lake Forest is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Woodbridge, who was ranked 14th at the time (Lake Forest was ranked second). The Spartans narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Raiders 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since April 16th.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Delmarva Christian's offense. They came up short against Smyrna on Wednesday, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Royals' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Delmarva Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-7. As for Lake Forest, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0.

Lake Forest took their victory against Delmarva Christian in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
