Baseball Game Preview: Widefield Gladiators vs. Canon City Tigers

For the second straight game, Widefield will face off against Canon City. The Gladiators will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Widefield is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Canon City just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1.

For Canon City's part, Eric Chavez was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Chavez has posted since back in April of 2024.

Widefield now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Canon City, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Widefield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Canon City struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
