Baseball Game Preview: Buena Vista Demons vs. Ellicott Thunderhawks

Buena Vista has gone a perfect 5-0 against Ellicott recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Demons will take on the Thunderhawks at 12:00 p.m. Buena Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Buena Vista took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Platte Canyon. The Demons haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Julian Lopez-Olsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Buena Vista: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-10 otherwise. Lopez-Olsen was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reed Lundy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Elio Ynfante, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Buena Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Platte Canyon only posted an OBP of .286.

Meanwhile, Ellicott came up short against Colorado Springs Christian on Monday, falling 27-2. The Thunderhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Buena Vista's record now sits at 8-11. As for Ellicott, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14-1.
