Volleyball Recap: Widefield Has No Trouble Against James Irwin

Widefield had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt James Irwin on Tuesday. The Gladiators put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Gladiators, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-13, 25-13.

Katie Walderon paced Widefield's offense, picking up 13 kills. Walderon got some help from Leila Brown and her 28 assists. Alesandra Olivarria controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Widefield's win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Widefield will square off against Littleton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for James Irwin, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sand Creek at 6:00 p.m.
