Baseball Game Preview: Stewarts Creek Red Hawks vs. Blackman Blaze

Stewarts Creek is 8-2 against Blackman since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Stewarts Creek Red Hawks will welcome the Blackman Blaze at 6:30 p.m.

Stewarts Creek is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of Siegel.

Stewarts Creek got a good showing from Ben Bryant, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Bryant a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Coleman Neas was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Ayden Jackson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Blackman not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25, 2024. They put the hurt on Smyrna with a sharp 7-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Blaze in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Mitchell Cunningham looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Wilcox, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Stewarts Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Blackman, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
