On Thursday, Choctawhatchee had to settle for second even though Parker Powell put up the best numbers he has all season. Powell wasn't messing around, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The pitching appearance was his fourth straight with two or fewer hits.

Even though Powell couldn't lead Choctawhatchee over Escambia, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
