Softball Recap: Licking Valley Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Licking Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Watkins Memorial, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Emory Whisner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, D'Neya Dennis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Licking Valley's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Watkins Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Licking Valley will challenge Bloom-Carroll at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Watkins Memorial, they will take on Northridge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
