The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Liberty Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Mountain Ridge after they put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 7-3 to Shadow Ridge. The Mountain Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ainsley Cottrell was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Pinnacle, falling 6-0.

Mountain Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10-1.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Mountain Ridge's way against Liberty in their previous meeting back in March, as Mountain Ridge made off with a 7-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountain Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
