Baseball Game Preview: Pocahontas County Warriors vs. Webster County Highlanders

The Pocahontas County Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Webster County Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Pocahontas County lost 12-2 to Pendleton County on Monday.

Pocahontas County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was DJ Wilfong, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Tygarts Valley hit Webster County with a four-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Highlanders came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 12-2. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Webster County's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Pocahontas County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12-1.

Pocahontas County came out on top in a nail-biter against Webster County in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, sneaking past 19-18. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
