Recap: Westlake Wolverines vs. St. Charles
The Westlake Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a serious blow against St. Charles, falling 59-32. Westlake found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post ten fewer assists than your opponent.
When it comes to explaining why Westlake lost, one person who can't be blamed is Raynna Ratchford. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kiarra Costley, who scored four points along with eight steals.
Among those leading the charge was McKenzie Thomas, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Coleman, who scored nine points along with eight steals.
Westlake's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Charles, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Westlake will take on Grace Brethren Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Charles will be home for the holidays to greet McDonough at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully McDonough focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday.
