Softball Recap: Aubrey Wins Going Away Against Panther Creek

Aubrey barely beat Panther Creek the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Aubrey Chaparrals' way against the Panther Creek Panthers on Friday as the Aubrey Chaparrals made off with an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Chaparrals, who have now won seven matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Mya Cherry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent over her last nine games. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carmen Alexander, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Sophia Mulhern was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Aubrey always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Panther Creek only posted an OBP of .211.

The victory made it two in a row for Aubrey and bumps their season record up to 14-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-2 Lake Dallas (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 78.4% over those games). As for Panther Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aubrey will venture away from home to take on Ranchview at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Aubrey is facing Ranchview at the right time seeing as Ranchview is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Panther Creek, they will take on Lake Dallas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
