Softball Recap: Burbank Beats Lanier for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Burbank came tearing into Thursday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Lanier Voks with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Jalyn Ortiz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Gianina Valdez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Abigale Serafin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Burbank always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lanier only posted an OBP of .300.

Burbank's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lanier, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Burbank nor Lanier have any future games scheduled.
