Football Recap: Poland Seminary Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Poland Seminary had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Salem Quakers on Friday as they made off with a 48-26 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Quakers are ranked 354th).

David Xipolitas went supernova, rushing for 201 yards and four touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 71 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Another player making a difference was Chase Jones, who rushed for 58 yards and one score on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Poland Seminary was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 308 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Poland Seminary's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Panormitis Xipolitas with three.

Poland Seminary wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 42-6 victory against East on the 29th. As for Salem, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-21 loss against South Range on the 29th.
