Football Game Preview: Braswell Bengals vs. Guyer Wildcats

Braswell is 0-5 against Guyer since November of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Bengals will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Braswell has given up an average of 31.3 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Braswell is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Hebron on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bengals were dealt a 42-7 loss at the hands of the Hawks. The Bengals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

Meanwhile, Guyer faced Lewisville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Farmers with a sharp 47-21 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won six games in a row.

Guyer's win came from a few key players Braswell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carter Morgan, who threw for 258 yards and one touchdown on only 17 passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Those 258 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Kaedyn Cobbs helped Morgan out on the ground, rushing for 61 yards and three scores.

Braswell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Guyer, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Braswell might still be hurting after the 41-20 loss they got from Guyer in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Bengals, Kevin Sperry (who threw for 255 yards on only 16 passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
