Former NBA champion Mike Miller takes over helm of Mustangs program looking for second state playoff berth.

NBA champion Mike Miller assumes the head coaching job for No. 24 Houston (Germantown, Tenn.) — and a chance to coach sons Mason and Mavrick — after leaving his assistant coaching role at the University of Memphis.

Top 50 senior prospect Jerrell Colbert and Minnesota transfer Cal Greene join returning starters Zander Yates and Mason Miller to form one of the top frontcourts in high school hoops.

T.J. Madlock anchors the Mustangs backcourt, but depth is a question with a youthful tandem headlined by freshman Ahmad Nowell and sophomore wing/guard Mavrick Miller.

Coming off the first state tournament appearance in school history, Houston looks to build on a 29-4 season and quarterfinals appearance that was cut short due to the pandemic.

Houston's schedule includes a handful of challenging national games including No. 14 La Lumiere (La Porte, Ind.), No. 17 Minnehaha Academy (Minneapolis, Minn.) and AZ Compass Prep (Chandler, Ariz.).
