Softball Recap: Shepherd Finds Playoff Glory Versus Florence-Carlton

Shepherd had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Florence-Carlton Falcons with a sharp 12-2 win on Saturday. The victory was just business as usual for the Mustangs, who after 24 games remain undefeated this season.

Charity Dunn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Breelyn Fulton was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Payton Welch, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Shepherd was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Shepherd pushed their record up to 24-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10.4 runs thus far. As for Florence-Carlton, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2.

As of now, neither Shepherd nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
