Football Game Preview: Briarwood Christian Lions vs. Russellville Golden Tigers + How To Watch

The Briarwood Christian Lions will face off against the Russellville Golden Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Briarwood Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Leeds 28-3.

Briarwood Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Charles Dedmon out in front who threw for 197 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 47 yards. The dominant performance also gave Dedmon a new career-high in passer rating (142.8). Copeland Holley was Dedmon's top target, picking up 88 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Russellville slipped by Boaz 29-28 on Friday.

Russellville found their leader in sophomore Whit Goodwin, who rushed for 29 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 155 yards and one TD. The Golden Tigers also got a significant boost from Tarus Davis, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

Russellville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Drake Ergle and Braxton Duncan. Duncan is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

Russellville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points over those games. As for Briarwood Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Briarwood Christian took their win against Russellville when the teams last played back in November of 2016 by a conclusive 33-13 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Golden Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
