Volleyball Recap: South Mecklenburg Comes Up Short

South Mecklenburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Marvin Ridge Mavericks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sabres of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-17, 23-25, 25-21.

Phoenix Modie paced South Mecklenburg's offense, picking up 11 kills. Modie really made an impact as he also led the team in assists with 13. Finally, Jayden Wallace kept South Mecklenburg's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

South Mecklenburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Marvin Ridge, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. South Mecklenburg will square off against rival West Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd. Meanwhile, Marvin Ridge is set to challenge their familiar foe West Forsyth on Saturday.
