Basketball Recap: Dwight-Englewood Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Dwight-Englewood couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 71-63 to the St. Joseph Regional Green Knights on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Green Knights are ranked 27th).

St. Joseph Regional's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Pacciarelli, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Pacciarelli also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jahmir Joseph, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Dwight-Englewood and nudges their season record down to 14-6. As for St. Joseph Regional, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Dwight-Englewood has already played their next game (against Saddle River Day), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Joseph Regional will head out to challenge Paramus Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph Regional will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
