League recap: Kickapoo tops Hillcrest to extend winning streak

Adding to the longest winning streak in Ozarks this week, Kickapoo beat Hillcrest 49-21. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Lebanon was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Yellowjackets defeated West Plains 35-7.

Joplin's dynamic duo of Tristen Ash and Gavin Jones proved to be unstoppable against Waynesville, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ash threw for 308 yards and 2 touchdowns and Jones had 154 yards receiving. Terrell Gilmore helped Joplin's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 114 yards.

6-foot-2 quarterback Anthony Cooper of Kickapoo is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,003. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Connor Ratcliff. The Parkview star has 37 catches for 620 yards.

Lebanon's Elza Evans is a mere 71 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 114 carries Evans has put up 929 yards this year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Will Christian's team takes on Joplin. The Yellowjackets are currently in third, while Chris Shields' team is in fourth.

Rolla lost to Camdenton 49-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
