Basketball Recap: Concordia Comes Up Short

Concordia lost against Wellington-Napoleon back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Concordia Fighting Orioles were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers.

Wellington-Napoleon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Mefferd, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Mefferd a new career-high in points. Maddox Blystone was another key player, going 7 of 11 en route to 17 points.

Concordia's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Wellington-Napoleon, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13.

Concordia will square off against Sweet Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wellington-Napoleon has already played their next match (against Hardin-Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
