Canyon has gone 8-2 against El Modena recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Comanches are taking a road trip to square off against the Vanguards at 3:30 p.m. Canyon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Canyon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Centennial, who was ranked sixth in their home state at the time (Canyon was ranked 13th). The Comanches put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-0 win on Friday.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday El Modena sidestepped Otay Ranch for a 3-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vanguards.

El Modena got a great performance from Sara Pinedo as she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Pinedo has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, El Modena saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn Galasso, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Sofia Ramos also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Canyon's record now sits at 14-5. As for El Modena, their record is now 13-6.

Canyon beat El Modena 9-5 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comanches since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
