Soccer Game Preview: Cheney vs. Gonzaga Prep

Cheney is 0-5 against Gonzaga Prep since April of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Blackhawks will head out to take on the Bullpups at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Cheney barely beat University the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blackhawks were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over the Titans on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for Cheney in their matchups with University: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gonzaga Prep). They blew past Shadle Park 5-1 on Wednesday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Gonzaga Prep's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Shadle Park are ranked 233rd).

Gonzaga Prep's offense was hitting Shadle Park from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal.

Gonzaga Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5-2 record this season. As for Cheney, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
