Basketball Recap: Portola Bulldogs vs. University Trojans

The Portola Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They managed a 93-89 victory over University. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

University lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shervin Moarrefian, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Moarrefian is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Savion Ruth, who scored 21 points along with six assists and four steals.

Portola pushed their record up to 8-19 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for University, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-19.

Portola won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Vaqueros at 4:30 p.m. on February 2nd. University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
