Baseball Recap: South Hunterdon Triumphs

South Hunterdon posted their closest victory since April 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past the Princeton Day Panthers 7-5. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Nate Lawton made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Lawton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ed Cooper, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

The victory got South Hunterdon back to even at 2-2. As for Princeton Day, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, South Hunterdon is taking a road trip to challenge North Warren Regional at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Princeton Day, they will host Hamilton at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
