Baseball Recap: Pleasant Grove Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Pleasant Grove entered their tilt with Wenonah on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 20-7 margin over the Dragons. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-3 back in March.

Timothy Blue was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Pleasant Grove is undefeated when Blue posts two or more runs, but 4-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jordan Walker, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Pleasant Grove hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 11-14 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Wenonah, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

Pleasant Grove and Wenonah are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Spartans will head out to face off against Bibb County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Choctaws' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Pleasant Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wenonah, they are taking a road trip to take on Carver Birmingham at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
